A più di un anno dalla dichiarazione dello stato di crisi, si avvia ormai alla chiusura definitiva, entro la fine di settembre, lo stabilimento di produzione di autobus di Irisbus di Valle Ufita: 684 dipendenti diretti (561 operai e 123 impiegati), un indotto che arriva a 2.000 lavoratori, una superficie della fabbrica di circa 1 milione di metri quadri, di cui 100.000 coperti. Irisbus Italia SPA e’ nata nel 1999 a seguito della decisione di Fiat Iveco e di Renault di unire le loro attività nel campo del trasporto pubblico attraverso la fusione dei rispettivi settori autobus.
