Iraq PM to sue president, security forces deploy across Baghdad -
Iraq Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki on Monday said he was filing a complaint against the president for violating the constitution and ordered a massive security deployment across Baghdad. A defiant Maliki made the shock announcement on the third day of US strikes against jihadist militants in the north of Iraq and amid mounting calls for him to step aside. "Today I will file a formal complaint to the federal court against the president," Maliki said in an address broadcast at midnight (2100 GMT Sunday) on state television. He alleged that Iraq's newly-elected president, Kurdish veteran Fuad Masum, had violated the constitution twice, essentially by failing to designate him as the prime minister.
